The Arc

The simple line of the silhouette, as drawn by a continuous movement of the hand, was the main concern of this lounge. Strong sheet metal was welded in key points. The metal section was reduced step by step for obtaining the final result with the thin side line, cutting down structural pieces that were redundant. This limit of stability is proven also by the fact that the backrest has a rocking movement, kept in the final design. This characteristic gives a pleasant experience while sitting, similar to a rocking chair. For comfort, the sitting area is treated with massive oak wood. The oak can be replaced with teak wood for exterior use and the metal can be stainless steel. The sitting surface is divided into stripes, leaving the water drain and keeping the warm wood feeling.
